Hi
The good news is the curfew has been lifted across Thailand...due to the timezone all matches were held during the curfew hours....this is good but now no longer relevant following England's abject performance but at least we (or rather Patrick) can have a full nights sleep!!
More important matters (as far as Nina is concerned) is we've found a Gecko in Nina's loo...it was huge and enormous (according to Patrick) at about 5 inches.....according to Nina!! For all the nature lovers, he was humanely removed....although his cousins were told of the fabulous location...and are still checking it out!
Other news, we've found more elephants in the garden....but green ones! This is the garden at the Centara Hotel in Hua Hin. The hotel was previously known as the Railway Hotel, I don't know why as it is about a mile from the railway station, built in 1923 with a true colonial design and feel, it's like stepping back in time. The Hotel's claim to fame is that it was featured in the film "The Killing Fields" in 1984.
There are many artifacts remaining such as the original old switchboard, plates and glassware from the state railway and a massive oak table which has obviously seen a lot of life.
We are intending to go back for one of the afternoon tea's which are held in the original tea room overlooking the gardens.
The interesting topiary as you can see from the picture is a feature at the entrance to the hotel and obviously a modern touch.
For the best views of Hua Hin town we have found the sky bar at the Hilton, which is a lovely place to sit and sip a cocktail or two and watch the sun go down. Also had dinner there last night which was very nice, although we both feel quite piggy as ate a whole Peking duck between us, sorry duck, but you did taste nice.
Good job we are managing to keep up with our daily swim around the lagoon!
That's it for today, just about to top up the tan!
